We urgently need volunteers to assist with our once-a-semester chili chowdown. We do not have enough volunteers for the event planned for November 16. If we fail, it will be the first time we’ve missed a chili chowdown since the Friends were organized almost 10 years ago.
Long-time Friends know that we provide lunch to the cast and crew of the Mainstage play on the day of tech rehearsal. The students work from dawn to dark on that day and the lunch break we provide is most welcome. The menu is simple, three crockpots of chili, condiments, chips, carrots, and dessert.
We arrive to set up in Black Box (the venue adjacent to TheaterSpace) half-an-hour before the scheduled lunch break. Since students serve themselves, we are free to join them and chat for their lunch hour. About 30 minutes after lunch is over we pack up our crockpots, fold the chairs, and leave.
If you can make a crockpot of chili or make a Costco run for chips or cookies, etc. and can spare a couple of hours on the afternoon of November 16, email FOTM Events Coordinator Mack Miller. The students look forward to this event and everyone who has participated in the past has chosen to do it more than once. Try it once and enjoy lunch with Friends and students. We guarantee a great time!
