Freshmen are encouraged to audition for our School of Theater productions, and many of them are cast in significant roles in their first semester.
Each season, The Mason Players present nine productions, including mainstage plays and musicals, a Studio Series, two ten-minute play festivals featuring student-written work, a cabaret, a spring musical showcase and an annual fringe.
Show auditions are open to all full-time degree-seeking George Mason University students, including freshmen, all of whom are given equal consideration during the casting process. Mainstage shows are directed by faculty or professional guest artists, employing design teams of both students and professionals working together. Student directors have multiple opportunities to direct throughout the year.
