At the October 31, 2019 Mason Outstanding Achievement Awards one of our favorite people, Cody Clarke, ’14, was presented with the Exceptional Support Award by Brad Edwards, assistant VP and Athletic Director. On hand to cheer Cody’s achievement at the ceremony was the whole CVPA Staff and Friends members Mack and Paulette Miller and his proud wife Bree and his equally proud mom.
This award goes to an outstanding employee, nominated by his colleagues, who is indispensable to the department, the go-to person that everyone counts on to assure things run smoothly.
Let me share some of the words of Cody’s colleagues from their nominating letters: Cody was recognized as the “face” of two of the most visible units at George Mason University: of the College of Visual and Performing Arts and the Green Machine. Cody brings the artistry and attention to detail he learned designing sets as a School of theater student to the events he plans. “All the patrons of the CFA know him by name and he knows and attends to their interests and needs, furthering their connection to and support of the Center,” said Cody’s supervisor. Cody “ . . .understands the importance of building strong relationships” and “possesses a positive attitude and a great sense of humor…and exemplifies the professional, dedicated, and helpful employee that make Mason proud.”
All of us who know Cody and have had the pleasure of working along-side him know that describes him so well. To that we would add his seeming joy in his job. No question is unimportant and there is no problem he won’t try to fix. In short, we all think he is very special indeed.
Cody is a School of Theater alum and has a Masters in Arts Management from Mason, proving that Mason keeps its very best grads right here at home!
Congratulations, Cody.
